Mircobladed Brows
Updated: Aug 6, 2019
The beauty world, and most likely your social media feed(S,) are all buzzing about Microblading. Many are unsure of what it actually is. I contacted Rosanna Hartman, a licensed esthetician, to help us get a better understanding for Microblading.
LoveAndLipstick: What is Microblading?
Rosanna Hartman: Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that uses a specialized hand-controlled tool to make fine cuts in the skin to implant pigment that creates the appearance of natural eyebrow hair. It is ideal for filling in sparse areas of the natural eyebrow where hair isn’t present. It's also great for defining and enhancing brow shape.
L&L: Where did Microblading come from?
RH: Eyebrow Microblading goes by a few different names, like Microstroking, Micropigmentation, Eyebrow Embroidery, Eyebrow Feathering, and 3D Eyebrows. No matter the name, the procedure of Microblading eyebrows is relatively new to Illinois, but it has been popular overseas for roughly 25 years.
L&L: How does a Microblade work?
RH: The microblade tool looks similar to an X-Acto Knife, but instead of there being one big blade, there is a series of micro needles. The Microblade is dipped into a selected color of pigment and then used to make a fine cut, or Microstroke, in the skin. This process results in the pigment being implanted into the skin, which is known as Micropigmentation. With the proper technique, Microbladed eyebrow results look beautiful and completely natural.
L&L: How long does Microblading last?
RH: Microblading lasts 15-18 months with proper aftercare.
L&L: How long does Microblading take?
RH: The average Microblading appointment lasts two hours. Nothing is ever rushed during your Microblading appointment because the results are a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo that stays on your face for an extended period of time. We insist on being thorough and taking the time to provide the most beautiful, natural-looking brows possible.
L&L: Does Microblading hurt?
RH: Keeping in mind that pain is subjective, most clients say they experience no discomfort during Microblading. Any pain that was experienced has been compared to the feeling of a light scratch with minimal discomfort. A topical anesthetic is applied to provide a comfortable Microblading experience. Some clients have even been able to take a nap while undergoing their eyebrow transformation.
L&L: Where can I get Microblading done?
RH: You can call or text at 847-321-0147 or send me a facebook message at Rosanna Hartman and we will book/discuss appointments.
